Once the panel was complete, Vanessa stayed behind to take an infinite number of selfies with grateful fans. I stood patiently in line with everyone else. But instead of asking for pics, I informed her that I had a couple of questions regarding her beauty regimen.
Finally, it was my turn to meet her. I opened the conversation with a sincere compliment of her flawless skin. Immediately, Vanessa shared her favorite at home beauty mask. It's an all natural formula consisting of three ingredients and we probably already have on hand. Vanessa explained how she mashes up avocado, honey, and apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Once blended, she applies and let's it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
I found a video demonstration of Vanessa preparing the mask for your viewing pleasure.
Homemade masks are cool and all, but I was more interested in her go-to professional skin treatments. While on stage,Vanessa mentioned that she loved spa days. I was certain that she had an appreciation for professional facial treatments.
I was right!
She moved in a little closer and informed me of her love for Skin Laundry's Laser & Light Facials. According to Vanessa, these facials did wonders for her skin. We didn't get a chance to discuss the process in full detail for lack of time, but I made a mental note to find out more.
Let me first start off by saying that it's been a while since I've had a typical facial. I find that standard process of cleansing and exfoliating isn't as powerful as facials paired with more advanced treatments. It seems like the folks at Skin Laundry agree with me. Their facials are 100% technology based. Meaning they rely on advanced treatments to impact the skin in a way that typical facials can not.
The entire process consists of two steps. First they "cleanse" the skin using a laser. Yep, that's right. There are no cleansing products or steam facials here. Instead they leverage lasers to penetrate the skin at a much deeper level. This "cleansing laser" also improves hyperpigmentation, boosts collagen, and tightens skin. Can your average facial do that?
Next they move to step 2 where light therapy is used to address more stubborn skin issues like sun damage, acne scars and broken capillaries. Get this.... the entire 2 step process is only 15 minutes and requires no down time. The pricing is in line with your typical product based facials. But what shocked me most was that Skin Laundry offers their first facial free of charge. I've never heard of such a thing. Unfortunately, they don't have locations nationwide or I would have already scheduled my first treatment. Next time I'm in Cali, New York, or Arizona, a Skin Laundry facial will be on my to-do list. You lucky ladies who can experience this for yourself, be sure to check them out. Vanessa Simmons swears by it.
After my brief conversation with Vanessa, she introduced me to her PR rep. I'll be reaching out to her rep to see if I can land an interview to learn more about Vanessa's entrepreneurial journey, her upcoming website, and (best of all) her new show #QueenBoss which is like a Shark's Tank for minority women entrepreneurs. I can not wait for this to air.
OOOH! Thanks. 15 minute walk from my job. Booked an appointment for today. So excited.
ReplyDeleteWould love to know what you think of your experience.
DeleteNice clean spot. When I walked in I was complimented on my skin and everyone's skin in there looked fab. I was EXCITED!!!!! But, no bueno! My skin is waaaay too sensitive and I broke out in hives which turned into swelling. I looked like I was stung by multiples wasps. Face had to be covered in cortisone > then one of their moisturizing masks followed up by benadryl cream. I looked a hot WRECK. The swelling just went down this morning. Not their fault. I am very dark-skinned. Probably, if I was lighter they would have gotten an instant notification that this wasn't for me. Won't be doing that again. Staff was super attentive and sweet.
DeleteOh wait! And you couldn't tell me it wasn't working because I felt my face getting tight (pores tightening...NOT!), Tightness was from swelling. I think my face was lightened in some spots also.
I'll recover. Still got some float credits to use. I'll stick to that.
My face is really soft though.
